Dr John Leyland is a New Zealand trained Urologist, graduating from Auckland School of Medicine and carrying out urological training throughout New Zealand, before completing his Uro-Oncology Fellowship in Cambridge, UK.  

John returned to New Zealand in 2008 to practise as a Consultant Urologist at Waikato Hospital, continuing his career here while also extending to private practice. His private consulting services now encompass satellite clinics in Morrinsville and Gisborne.

Passionate about passing on his extensive knowledge to the next generation of doctors, in his role at Waikato Hospital, John is actively involved in teaching medical students and junior staff as well as urology trainees. 

 John is married with three very energetic children, and loves spending time watching and participating in a wide variety of outdoor and sporting activities. To keep himself fit, he regularly competes in endurance track cycling competitions.

• Urological management of spinal cord injury patients

• General Urology including Laser treatment of urinary tract stones and TURP
